BRUNSTRÖM GEORGE

 

Mollyhawk Brunström George, Felix, was born in Sund, Åland, on 26.4.1917, and died in Stockholm on 26.8.1984.

He went to sea in 1934 in the s s BODIA and then served in the 4-masted barques PARMA, PASSAT, and PAMIR.

George Brunström rounded Cape Horn twice, eastwards- in the PAMIR in 1937 as A.B. and in the MOSHULU as 3rd Mate in 1939.

He had his first post as Mate in the MOSHULU in the years 1938-39.

George Brunström obtained his Master Mariner's certificate in Mariehamn in 1956.

During World War II he served as Mate in the s s HAMMARLAND and in the PETSAMO, taking part in the rescue of 45 Allied seafarers off Newfoundland in June 1941.

He then sailed outside the blockade during the war.

George Brunström subsequently continued his career at sea in Swedish ships.
