ERIKSSON VICTOR

 

Eriksson Victor, R., Mollyhawk, was born in Överby, Jomala, Åland, on 24.8.1890 and died in 1976.

He lived in Brooklyn, U.S.A..

Victor Eriksson obtained his Master Mariner's certificate in Mariehamn in 1916.

After obtaining his certificate, he signed on the full -rigged ship THOMASINA which was subsequently sunk by the Germans during World War I.

Victor Eriksson rounded Cape Horn eight times, five times from West to East and three times from East to West, as follow.

During the voyage in ballast from Dublin to Portland Oregon in 1916, it took ten days to round Cape Horn from latitude 50° in Atlantic to latitude 50° in the Pacific, and the ship sailed as far down as to 62°South.
