HÄGGBLOM
ANTON
Häggblom Anton Edvard, Mollyhawk, was
born in Värdö, Åland, on 3 October 1904 and died in Mariehamn in 1963.
He made his first voyage in 1922 in the
schooner VITUS, and then sailed in the 4-masted barquentine DIONE, the full-rigged PARCHIM and the Swedish 4-m barque BEATRICE.
He rounded Cape Horn in 1921 in the PARCHIM.
Anton Häggblom obtained his Master
Mariner's certificate in 1931.
Anton Häggblom commanded the schooner NÄSBORG,
schooner SAGA, and 4 -m m v GULLKRONA.
Between 1934 and 1939 he was Master of
the SIGGY. He left the sea in 1939 and was marine superintendant in Mariehamn. He
was principal Owner of several shipping companies in Mariehamn and was chairman
of the Åland Shipmaster's Association.
