HANSEN
RUNE
Hansen Rune, Peder, Albert, Mollyhawk,
was born in Mariehamn in 1901 and died there on 17.1.1966.
He commenced his career at sea as deck
hand in the full-rigged ship GRACE HARWAR and continued as bo's'un of the
barque CARMEN in 1922.
He then served as Mate of the brig BORNHOLM
and the schooner LIDEBORG as well as the barques MONTROSA and WINTERHUDE.
Rune Hansen obtained his Master Mariner's
certificate in Mariehamn in 1929.
During his career in sailing-ships, he
rounded Cape Horn 3 times.
Rune Hansen served in the Ergo Company
for ten years, being Master of the s s ERGO, s s ELLA and s s INGER.
He also served as Mate of the s s EVA.
After 1954 he served in the NICARAGUA and
El SALVADOR, belonging to the Mamenic Line of Nicaragua.
