HOLMSTRÖM MATS VIKING

 

 

Holmström Mats Viking, Mollyhawk, was born in Föglö, Åland, on 10 September 1915 and died on 16 May 1983.

He made his first voyage in 1932 in the Finnish s s VERVANDI.

Viking Holmström rounded Cape Horn twice eastwards in the 4- masted barque PASSAT : in 1937 and 1938.

He obtained his Master Mariner's certificate in Mariehamn in 1945.

Viking Holmström served in the Gustaf Erikson Company for two years as 2nd Mate, and then as Chief Mate of the s s GOTTFRID, m v ALCA,s s SKOGSÖ, m v STYRSÖ, m v KALLSÖ, s s GRANÖ,s sKIRSTA, s s KUNGSÖ, s s ELLA, s s SANDÖ, m v BERGÖ, s s HAMMÖ,and s s ATLAS.

He was also Master of the s s RAMSÖ and m v FISKÖ.

He served in the Gustaf Erikson Company from 1952 to 1969 and then in Sally Company until his retirement in 1975.
