Kähre Karl, Mollyhawk, was born in Mariehamn, 13 September 1913.

First vessel, barquentine MOZART, 1929-30, Rounded Cape Horn in January 1930, at the age of 16.

Second vessel, 4 -m barque ARCHIBALD RUSSEL, rounded Cape Horn in March 1931 as O.S.

Third vessel, 4 m barque VIKING, rounded Cape of Good Hope in 1932 as A.B.

3-m barque PENANG, London-Mariehamn, July 1932 as A.B.

Obtained Mate's Ticket at the Navigation School in Mariehamn in 1933.

4-m barque PAMIR 1933-34, Rounded Cape Horn in April 1934 as 3rd Officer.

4-m barque ARCHIBALD RUSSEL 1934-35, Rounded Cape Horn in March 1935 as 3nd Officer.

Obtained Master's Ticket at the Navigation School in Mariehamn in May 1936, at the age of 22 - youngest ever examined.

Total Cape Horn passages four, all of them from Australia to England, i.e.eastward.

Fifth passage ( in the VIKING from Australia in 1932 ) was round the Cape of Good Hope.

Sailed as Mater of tankers for 5 years in worldwide trade 1968-73.

From 1970 Director of the Åland Maritime Museum.

From 1974 Honorary Member of the Åland Nautical Club.

Founder member of the Åland Islands Section of the A.I.C.H.Saint Malo in 1961, appointed Secretary.

From 1976, President of this Section.

Awarded the Order of the 'White Rose of Finland ' in 1978.

In1988 Editor of the new edition of the Åland Islands Sailing -ship History.

Awarded the Cultural Prize of Honour of the Åland Islands in 1979.

Awarded the Cape Horner' bronze medal in 1963 (N° 41 ), silver medal in 1984.

Collection of poems ' Frän Hav och Hamn ', published in Mariehamn in 1993.
