KARLMAN MAGNUS

 

Karlman Magnus, Alfred, Molyhawk, was born in Kökar, Åland, on 22 January 1919 and died in 1982.

He made his first voyage in May 1928, in the schooner ELLEN, master Captain Karlsson.

Magnus Karlman rounded Cape Horn as donkeyman and Able Seaman in the 4-masted barque PASSAT, Captain Ferd.Grönlund, in 1937, during a voyage England -Australia -England, 8.9.36.-24.7.1937.

Magnus Karlman obtained his Master Mariner's certificate in Mariehamn in 1944.

He served as 3 rd Mate of the s s KURIKKA 1937-38, Mate of the s s INGEBORG 1939-40, and Chief Mate of the INGEBORG 1940-41, 2nd Mate of the s s HERMES 1941, Master of the INGEBORG 1942, 2nd and Chief Mate of the s s FRITZ S. 1942-43, Master of the m v HELENA 1943, 2nd Mate of the s s SCANDINAVIC 1944-45, Master of the m v IDA M 1946-47, Mate of Swedish vessels 1947-54, Chief Mate if the ERNST S 1954-58 and Acting Master of that vessel for 6 months during that period.

He was also Master of the m v MAJ RAGNE of Västervik, Sweden.
