KARLSSON WALTER
Karlsson Walter Valdemar, Mollyhawk, was
born in Pargas, Finland, on 12.4.1916 and died in 1976.
He made two voyages to Australia and back
(to London) in the 4- masted barque OLIVEBANK, in 1936-37 as Deck Hand and in
1937-39 as Carpenter.
He rounded Cape Horn twice, eastwards, in
1937 and 1938.
Walter Karlsson obtained his Master
Mariner's certificate in Mariehamn in 1947.
He served as 2nd Mate of the s s SAVONIA,
s s IMATRA and s s BÄRÖSUND, and Chief Mate of the m v MARTI- RAGNAR, s s KRISTINA
and s s PETER.
He then served as Master of the BARÖSUND,
s s IMATRA, s s NIDARHOLM, s s PETSAMO, s s KARI RAGNAR, m v BOTHNIA and s s KARINA.
In 1968 he was serving as Master of the s
s OULUTAR (ex WELLAMO), running between Sweden and Finland.
