MATTSSON JARL

 

Mattsson Jarl Ruben, Mollyhawk, was born in Föglö, Åland, on 29 January 1909 and died in Charleston, USA, on 28 November 1986.

He made his first voyage in 1924 in the 4-masted barque HERZOGIN CECILIE.

He rounded Cape Horn in the HERZOGIN CECILIE in 1925 and 1926, in the PENANG in 1931 and in the PARMA in 1935.

He obtained his Master Mariner's certificate in 1936.

Jarl Mattsson was Mate of the barque PLUS, the PENANG and the PARMA as well as the s s AGNES and s s GOTTFRID.

He was Master of the GOTTFRID between 1940 and 1946.

Jarl Mattsson moved to Durban in 1950 and to the USA in the beginning of the1960s.
