WIKSTRÖM HÄKAN
Wikström Häkan, Valter, Fjalar, Mollyhawk,was
born in Helsinki on 20.1.1912 and died on 26.11.1987.
He made his first voyage in 1931.
Häkan Wikström rounded Cape Horn six
times, eastwards :
- in the 3- masted barque PENANG in 1932
as Deck Hand and
- in 1933 as Able Seaman, Master
Ferdinand Grönlund.
- in the 4- masted barque VIKING in 1934
as Able Seaman, Master Ivar Hägerstrand .
- in the 3- masted barque KILLORAN in
1935 as sailmaker, Master Verner Björkfelt.
- in the 4- masted barque ARCHIBALD RUSSELL
in 1938 as 2nd Mate, Master Mikael Sjögren.
- in 1939 as Chief Mate, Master Paul
Sommarlund.
Häkan Wikström obtained his Master
Mariner's certificate in Turku / Äbo in 1945.
He served as Master of the s s MERCATOR, s
s PRIMULA, m v ANJA, m v AURORA, m v ATLANTA, m v ARABIA, m v ARICA and m v ANGRA.
He was awarded the gold medal of the
Shipowners', Association of Finland.
Häkan Wikström also served as Master of
the s s KENNETH, belonging to the Ab R. Nordstöm&Co Oy, of Lovisa, Finland.
